Entry #9: More Food?!?
Simple cartoonish images like this can hold deeper messages with just a few sentences. There are many images that display the different examples of how food can be shown to be less important than other things. Just like this one above!
The image shows children with empty plates in their hands. An older man dressed in an outfit with blue and white stars and red stripes is saying "More Food?! Can't you see the grown ups are busy arguing about how to fix the economy?" This shows how the "Grown ups" (which is the government) cares more about its economy and other topics more than children in need of food. This has been a common problem in the United States. Food is not necessarily healthy. If it is, its hard to access for middle-wage families.
The government needs to worry more about the children of this country. They focus too much on other topics. Children are the future of our country and we need to worry about the health of them more. I hope this picture helps you all realize the issues in the food industry.
The picture you chose to write about depicts the contrast between the focus on fixing the economy and the suffering of children due to starvation. The image takes a light-hearted approach to a very serious issue, and you captured that effectively. It could be analyzed even further, particularly highlighting the shouting figures in a kitchen that was likely intended to prepare meals for the children. Efforts to address this problem are being contested, causing the issue to persist.
