Mayhem Advertisement

I believe the author wants the audience to be influenced to get insurance and to be prepared for accidents that may occur. In this advertisement, the author shows how having a cat can lead to having accidents around the house. For example, the "cat" leaves the sink on which lead to the ceiling collapsing. If the person were to have insurance, then the person would have minimalized the financial damage. The target audience is people with cats or anyone planning to get one (or any pet). The author makes the advertisement comedic to get people to be drawn to it, which will lead them to get that insurance plan. It is humorous because the supposed "cat" is actually a human man. He tossed things off the counter and lays on the woman's lap, as well as literally sitting on a Roomba. The setting is in a big house. At first, it shows the cat doing small bad actions. Then, the cat starts to do more serious accidents: such as leaving the sink on and eating the bird. This ad overall using humor to persuade its audience to get insurance. I think humor is my favorite way to advertise anything!
I think that the author does want the audience to be compelled to get a new and better insurance. I noticed the same theme in the advertisement I chose. I love how all of the ads are comedic as well. You bring some very great points to light and I think you did a very good job analyzing the ad.
ReplyDeleteEven though this is an assigned entry, you still need to invite the reader into the conversation by establishing the context before jumping right into the ad/analysis. What additional details or specifics (quotes, the setting, the larger context of the issue at hand) can you pull out to anchor your analysis?
