Entry #10: Social Media

As a teenager, social media is everywhere. It's used to communicate with friends and family, express ourselves, and find out what trending. It is a nice way to stay in touch with others. Whether its sending a funny meme or sending picture about what you're up to, it makes everything easier. You can post your creative ideas on TikTok or Instagram. You can discover other peoples posts and find new hobbies or ideas. Social media has many fun aspects. However, there are some negatives too.

Social media can be competitive for some. Its easy for people to compare themselves about others looks, experiences, or items they have. There can be a lot of pressure to be active and reply to others. Also, there are many strangers (or even people you know) that leave negative hate comments on your posts. This can happen to anyone.

People need to be aware of social media before deciding to join it. I personally think that social media should only be apart of someone's hobbies if they are aware of the negatives. They should be able to handle it or stay away from letting anyone that is not close to them view your content. I also think parents shouldn't introduce children to social media until they are at an appropriate age to where they can be ware of how to avoid negative content. I hope people come to realize that even if social media can be fun, it is important to be safe.

  1. Nice blog! I like how you talked about both the good and bad sides of social media. Your point about being aware of the negatives before using it is so true. I also agree with what you said about kids waiting until they’re old enough to handle it!
